1997, shrubbery cut out of photos, papers, string, 14 inches around.

These shrubs were in photos that my grandmother took in the 1920s.  I cut them out and sewed them together.  If I had left the cut outs alone, they would have been indecipherable scraps.  Since I have sewn them together, they are identifiable.  This may be a conceptual artwork, but it is also beautiful and quite shrub-like, I think.
