Phoenix Flower Keep the Faith

2015, papers, ink fabric, string, hobby grass, wool felt, 26 x 10 inches.

The top bit is a doodle that I began in 2003 and I never could reconcile.  It has had many incarnations. While I was working on “It’s Important to Recycle”, I made a part which was  all white and looked terrible, so I cut it out.  Luckily, this random doodle was on the wall at the time.  I attached the rejected white bit and it came to life for me. I knew that if I just kept the faith, something would be reborn from the rejected things.

2017, papers, drawings, photos, ink, pencil, hobby grass, papers, dots, 25 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches.
