papers, indigo tie-dyed linen, silk, thread, string, pearls, amber and other beads, photographs of barnacles on acetate, cut out windows, 49 x 45 inches.
Trying to make sense out of what we don’t know. This is what we always do as humans. Sensible shapes, grids, colours, time, and numbers among other concepts and understandings. We live inside our windows looking out. We have sensible perceptions of our world and cosmos.
The indigo tie dye is random, but the rest of this artwork is mostly under control. To be honest, I am not good at doing everything perfectly as I saw it. I made the indigo first and then sewed each month in pearls and other beads, mapping the stars from December – November all the way around. I also embroidered 13 circles through these which represent the moon cycles.
I am trying to come up with a better name, but until I do, this is the best articulation of what I am trying to get at.
