2015, photos, papers, lace, gold, ink, birch tree bark from Charlotte Greenewalt, thread, hidden treasure, approx. 30 inches around.
Through the brambles, branches, limbs and twigs there lies a secret world, rich with life and golden treasure. From underbrush chaos, to blooming flowers, lacey gold, an organized spiral, and finally rebirth. I should not defend this artwork, but I will do so anyway. It is a woven circle, which is a familiar artistic solution to me. I am moved to make woven circles. They are not doilies. It is the reality of our cosmos with its movement, space and matter.
