Flowers Do Grow in the Shadow of Trees

2017, papers, drawings, photos, ink, pencil, hobby grass, papers, dots, 25 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches.

The exact meaning of this artwork is very obvious to me, but I will explain it, so that it is clear. The all powerful tree creates shade and drinks all the water. However, some flowers are able to bloom underneath despite the odds being against them. Here is the lady flower beautifully blooming under the power of the depleting and demanding male tree that takes her resources for himself.  Don’t get me wrong. I love trees, but I am just saying……

The tree bark is made from the brush or what is  the negative space of the branches of a bush that I used in some other things including “Scrubbs Make Magic”.
