Flower Fresh, 2021

papers, wire, plastic and choral beads, string and thread on abaca paper, 11 x 8 inches.

Many of my journal pieces  and artworks are about taking useless scraps that are meaningful only to me and  revitalizing them to make something that is meaningful to others.   These choral beads were leftover from a weird thing that belonged to my great-great grandmother.  I turned a lot into a necklace, but these few were left over and I turned them into a flower. The big pearl is not real.  I have had this flower laying around for at least twenty years until  I have finally incorporated it into this idyllic landscape with a pink and green earth and butterfly spirit skies.
