paper, coloured pencils, ink, holes, 19 x 24 inches.
Fifteen years ago, I made a dark green splotch on this very special paper and decided I didn’t like it, though I did like the colour. I then coloured other things on top of this paper in bright sunshine yellow, so there were lots of weird marks and it was even worse. I looked at this paper for years, not knowing how to salvage it. In the end, I decided that a field of flowers was the best solution. The green splotch became the moon and the arbitrary marks became the centers of the flowers. I wanted the flowers to be the only subject, so I cut out the background. Now they are floating in space like real flowers.
