Dusk World With Copper Moon, 2025,

Fabrics, including tea towel from my great-great grandmother, towel from mom and daddy, chlorophyllin dye, discarded chair upholstery fabric, papers, cyanoprints, string, ink, copper leaf, air, 39 x 54 inches.

This artwork is inspired by the summer dusk when the moon glows copper. The way the image is taken, it is hard to see, but in real life, the copper moon is a much deeper colour.  With time, my moon will oxidize and turn aquamarine, or it could just go dull and ugly.  It is like the real moon, how it is never the same. I find dusk to be a divinely discombobulating moment. It is when time seems to stop and it is neither day nor night. The sun has just gone below the horizon, but dark has not  yet descended. It feels like a veil is in front of my eyes, but  I see with heightened awareness. Everything glows and nothing is here nor there. This artwork is bright and dim, above and below.  When I originally wrote this for Instagram, it was the super beaver moon which is in November and is the brightest, biggest moon of the year because of its proximity to the earth. No matter, this is a summer artwork.
