Dandicles and Barnelions Combust and Take Over

2016, papers, photos, string, thread, digital images on acetate, holes, dots, ink, 73 x 37 inches.

Dandelions and barnacles are often overlooked. They are weeds. They are underrated. Dandelions are nutritious, they have many stages of life, they grow anywhere and they are deeply pure and beautiful. Barnacles are hermaphrodites and are able to reproduce copiously. They are powerful and grow anywhere. They too are delicious and nutritious.  In this artwork, I have married these sea and land weeds into a pulsating, planet of their own. As we humans destroy most of the species on the earth, including ourselves, there are certain small creatures which will proliferate. I am imagining an earth ruled by these Dandicles and Barnelions.
