2016, in collaboration with Holly’s k2 class and Kendra’s 3rd grade class, papers, hobby rocks and grass, ink, pencils, gold, silver and copper, fabrics, string, and thread, approx 24 x 60 inches.
Susan Young, head of lower school at ASL, asked me to make this artwork. A third grade class made the letters and a kindergarten class made the self-portraits and the drawings. Although this artwork is very literal for my style, I very much believe in this statement. Here are the children, toodling around different roads and topographies in different modes of transport and being. It is right and good, but it does not mean that childhood is easy!
